We Welcome the World Project

The plan to implement a comprehensive program of pre arrival activities that includes online and in person services in target countries is what We Welcome the World Project is all about. The start date for the project is spring 2015. The project will run from April 1st, 2015 to December 31st, 2016 and beyond, and is estimated to serve over 1000 clients. We plan to use an online answering service, web forums, Skype and other methods of commutation to build a comprehensive plan for each newcomer. We will also focus on newcomer youth services he services for newcomers will be based on the following priorities: needs assessment, referrals, information and orientation, future employment in Canada and connections to communities in Canada.

The outcomes for the project will be:

	1. To make a transition to a new life in Canada as smooth as possible by preparing, education and empowerment of future immigrants.
	2. To offer concrete pre arrival orientations and settlement plans for each newcomer individually by working with newcomers in person and online.
	3. To offer employment assessments and credential evaluation/licensing information; referral to employment services and immigrant servicing organizations; providing a newcomer with a binder of necessary resources to settle in Canada successfully; resume preparation services; educational and secondary schools referrals.

The benefit of the project will be a win-win situation as prospective immigrants will settle in Canada faster and start contributing to the economy in the roles that they are intended to play in Canada and not in survival jobs. Immigrants will be well positioned to become successful in Canada reducing economical and emotional burden.
